Asirvad Microfinance Appoints Dr Roy Varghese as CEO, Janardanan as COO

Asirvad Microfinance, one of India’s leading NBFCs in the microfinance space, has announced the appointment of Dr Roy Varghese as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Unnikrishnan Janardanan as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The move comes as part of the company’s plan to strengthen leadership and widen financial access for underserved communities across India.
Dr Roy Varghese brings over 30 years of experience in banking and finance. He has worked with institutions like Axis Bank, IDBI Bank, Jana Small Finance Bank, and CSB Bank. Known for his deep understanding of rural finance and micro-lending, Dr Varghese will now lead Asirvad Microfinance’s efforts to expand its reach, improve operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Joining him is Unnikrishnan Janardanan, who also brings more than three decades of experience in microfinance and banking. Before joining Asirvad, he was CEO of Navachetana Microfin Services. He has also held key roles at ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, DCB Bank, and Bajaj Auto Finance. As COO, Janardanan will focus on improving the company’s service delivery and operational efficiency.
The Board of Directors of Asirvad Microfinance expressed full confidence in the new leadership team. The appointments are expected to help the company deepen its presence in rural India and continue its mission of providing simple and affordable financial services to those who need them most.
